David Adjaye’s African American museum wins Design of the Year


The Smithsonian National Museum of African American History and Culture has been named the Beazley Design of the Year, an annual prize awarded by the insurer and London’s Design Museum.

The Washington museum was designed by British Architect David Adjaye

The latest addition to the National Mall in Washington DC, the filigree bronze museum was designed by British architect David Adjaye and was inspired by a Yoruba crown – Financial Times
